HMS News

HMS FAMILIES:

What should one do on a weekend without football? The possibilities are endless.

Please take a moment to read over a few important updates and reminders.

  • HMS Students to Start Using Swipe Cards -

  • As per the email from last week’s Upcoming News and Events from the district, HMS students will begin utilizing their swipe cards beginning Monday, February 7th.

  • All students received their swipe cards and lanyards yesterday from their homeroom teachers. If your child was absent, they will receive their swipe card from the office.

  • Students will need to carry their swipe cards with them throughout the day. This can be done by wearing the lanyard provided or attaching the card to their backpack with the luggage strap that was provided.

    • Initially, the new student swipe cards will be used by students to check out materials from the media center, and for access to the school bus.

    • Eventually, the cards are expected to be used in our school cafeterias for student food service accounts.

    • This ‘touchless’ system makes easy work of processes that used to take some time (see photo for the ‘Z-Pass’ module that has been mounted in one of our school buses with Durham Services).

    • Students simply pass the card in front of the module and that’s it!

    • We are asking for all parents/guardians to help us by making sure their student remembers to bring his/her swipe card each day.

  • In-School COVID Testing Program -

    • In-school COVID Testing Program to start at HMS on Tuesday, February 8.

    • HMS students that opt in for testing will be tested between  9:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

      • If the early pick-up is known prior to the start of school, please send in a note with your child in the morning to give to our Greeter, Mrs.Tilt, or email ktilt@milforded.org.
