GOOD MORNING HMS FAMILIES:
I hope everyone is able to stay safe and enjoy our first snow day of the year.
Please take a moment to read over a few important updates and reminders.
Picture Retake Day -
Retakes will be done on Monday, January 10, 2022.
Portrait packages can be ordered online.
Quick online ordering can be done at mylifetouch.com with your Student's School ID or Picture Retake ID code EVTRGKZC6.
Order forms are also available in the Main Office.
Staying the course with mitigation protocols -
As previously communicated via a district video and various emails from the school and district, HMS continues to provide a safe and healthy environment as we adhere to mitigation protocols like masking, social distancing, and hand hygiene practices.
Speaking of masking wearing, please talk with your child(ren) regarding the proper way to wear their mask.
Throughout the day, adults remind students to cover both their mouth and nose.
As numbers continue to rise in Miflord, proper wearing of masks is imperative to the overall health and safety for all.
See the below visual as an aid to help with your conversation with your child(ren) around this important matter.

Mask and Test Kit Update -
Masks:
The district provided each building with 3 ply masks for our students.
They are available to all students and kept at the greeter station.
While masks are still required by all, these 3 ply masks for students are optional. Again, mask wearing is still a requirement.
Test Kits:
As per Dr. Cutaia’s letter, kits are to be prioritized to symptomatic students with a known direct exposure to an index case.
Nurse Apuzzo will determine if a student case warrants the distribution of a test kit.
Once approved, a scheduled timeframe to pick up your test kit will be provided to you and you will pick it up at the greeter station.
Please DO NOT send symptomatic individuals to the school to pick up the test kit.
The person who is picking up the kit must show a photo ID to the Greeter before receiving the kit.
Parents/guardians must report the results of the self-test to the school nurse.
Only one kit will be distributed per student.
Test kits will not be administered to students at school. Parents will administer the tests at home.

Yearbooks are on sale now for $27.
You can order your child's yearbook by clicking here Yearbook Order OR you can go to ybpay.lifetouch.com

Water bottles -
Please remind your child that they can bring water bottles to school to use throughout the day.
Water fountains are set up to dispense water into a bottle.
Student Absences and Early Pick Up -
To report an absence, parents need to log into PowerSchool and click on “Forms” to enter an absence.
If you need to pick up your child early for an appointment, please come to the front door with your driver license as you will need to check in with the Greeter and sign out your child.
If the early pick-up is known prior to the start of school, please send in a note with your child in the morning to give to our Greeter, Mrs.Tilt, or email ktilt@milforded.org. Our Greeter will then give your child an early release pass to come to the lobby to make the pick up more efficient.
