GOOD AFTERNOON HMS FAMILIES:
The New England weather pattern continues to keep us on our toes. Can you believe we had snow stick to the grass and cars Wednesday into Thursday morning and come Saturday, temperatures may reach into the 60’s along the shore area. Crazy!
Please take a moment to read over a few important updates and reminders.
PTO Happy Holidays and Thank you to HMS Staff -
The HMS PTO thought it would be fun to surprise our wonderful HMS staff with some sweet treats for the holidays. It is a way of saying Happy Holidays and thank you for all that you do for our children.
Because of Covid, there are limitations to what we can donate. We are asking for individually wrapped items so that staff can grab and go.
There will be a cart at the main entrance on Tuesday December 14th where you can drop off your goodies. Please drop off before the end of the day on Tuesday. If you have any questions please reach out to harborsidepto@gmail.com.
As always, thank you for all that you do to make everything our PTO does a success!
To sign up for donations click Holiday Donations. Thank you for your support.
Staying the course with mitigation protocols -
As previously communicated via a district video and various emails from the school and district, HMS continues to provide a safe and healthy environment as we adhere to mitigation protocols like masking, social distancing, and hand hygiene practices.
Families can help support the school mitigation protocols at home by reminding students to follow them.
Middle School Make-up work practice for vacations -
As per the Secondary Handbook, students who are absent for unexcused reasons (i.e. non-compliant vacations) will be held responsible for all work missed.
For planned absences, such as vacations during the school year other than those appearing on the Milford Public Schools Calendar, teachers will not be required to provide students or parents with advance work or assignments.
It is the student’s and/or the parent’s responsibility to get the work upon their return.
Parents and students must understand when classes are missed due to vacations, it is not the responsibility of the teachers to provide remedial instruction for work assignments missed.
Students are encouraged to check Google Classroom for assignments while absent for unexcused reasons (i.e. non-compliant vacations).
Water bottles -
Please remind your child that they can bring water bottles to school to use throughout the day.
Water fountains are set up to dispense water into a bottle.
Student Absences and Early Pick Up -
To report an absence, parents need to log into PowerSchool and click on “Forms” to enter an absence.
If you need to pick up your child early for an appointment, please come to the front door with your driver license as you will need to check in with the Greeter and sign out your child.
If the early pick-up is known prior to the start of school, please send in a note with your child in the morning to give to our Greeter, Mrs.Tilt, or email ktilt@milforded.org. Our Greeter will then give your child an early release pass to come to the lobby to make the pick up more efficient.
