HMS News

GOOD AFTERNOON HMS FAMILIES:

We couldn’t have asked for more wonderful weather during the annual field trip to Holiday Hill.  Eighth graders looked sharp at their dinner dance at Grassy Hill Country Club and had a wonderful time!

June 1st is recognized as the “National Day of Parents”, so be extra kind to those who take care of you. If you have to work on Sunday, it apparently is “National Leave the Office Early Day”, according to the calendar of social media events…

Make sure your child/children are rested and have a nutritious breakfast and water bottle Monday morning for the District-wide track meet at Jonathan Law.

Please take a moment to review a few important updates and reminders.

Media Center Updates -

    • All library books and HMS Chromebook chargers need to be returned to the media center by June 7th.

    • If books or chargers are lost or damaged please replace or pay for these missing items.

  • ebooks and audiobooks

    • Students can access all of this through the Destiny Discover website or the app on their smartphone.

Second Annual Great Boat Race -

  • Come watch 30 teachers from 12 schools race in cardboard boats built by their students!

    • Ms. Cannariato (Health Teacher) and Mr. Luzietti (Building Intern) will be in the HMS boat.

  • For more information click Great Boat Race.

Stay Hydrated-

  • Please have your child/children bring their water bottles to school, as the weather is getting warmer and they will be spending more time outside.  We do not have water cups to pass out throughout the day.  Students are encouraged to even keep an extra bottle in their locker, or bottles of water are available to purchase during lunch hours.

PTO Year End Ice Cream Event -

  • The HMS PTO is looking for volunteers to help with their ice cream event on the last day of school, June 11.

  • Click Ice Cream to learn how you can volunteer!

Drop-off/Pick-up Area Part Two - Please see below regarding our side parking lot.

Drop-off/Pick-up area -

  • Please know that we recently placed a “Student Pick-up/Drop-off Begins Here” sign up at the top loop.

  • Parents/Guardians are asked to pull up as close to the sign as possible before having their child(ren) exit the vehicle. When parents/guardians/family members are not moving up, the street gets backed up and causes traffic at the intersection.

  • As a reminder, the bus loop directly in front of the school is to be used only for buses between 7:40 AM and 8:00 AM.

    • Students are not to be dropped off using the bus loop prior to 8:00 AM.

    • Temporary exceptions will be made on an emergency basis and cleared through the nurse’s office.
