GOOD AFTERNOON HMS FAMILIES:

Thank you to everyone who contributed toward the “Pie in the Face” fundraiser.  We raised $450.52 for Harborside families in need. This most-anticipated event will be held next Friday at our first pep rally since Covid (you bet there will be pictures!)  We also promise some entertaining performances and games hosted by our staff on this day.  Get your cozy pjs ready, find your red and white clothing for candy cane day, dig out your winter clothing accessories, and dust off your “ugly sweater” for next week’s spirit week. (Details below!)

Please take a moment to review a few important updates and reminders.

  • Early Dismissal Reminders/Protocol-

    • If you have a scheduled early dismissal for your student, please email our Greeter:  ktilt@milforded.org.  She will give your child an early dismissal permission slip and have them prepared to be picked up at your requested time.

      • If the early departure is due to a doctor’s appointment, a note on the office letterhead is due upon return to school to be recorded as an excused early dismissal into PowerSchool.

    • Please know that if your child is not feeling well, they are to report to the nurse to be evaluated before they can be dismissed.

      • Students are not to be texting or calling parents/guardians to be picked up early due to not feeling well.

  • Start of School Reminder and Tardiness -

    • Students are to enter the front of the building starting at 7:40 AM and all students are to be in their assigned homeroom for the start of school at 8:00 AM.

    • Students will be considered tardy to school if they are not in their assigned classrooms by the school’s start time which is 8:00 AM.  Please note that our bells are synchronized to cell phone and computer clocks.

      • Any student arriving late to school must report to the Lobby Greeter to check-in. All tardy arrivals are considered unexcused unless a doctor’s note is provided.

      • Tardies resulting from professional appointments (medical, legal, etc.) must be documented by an original note from that professional, and submitted at the time the student signs in with the Greeter in the Lobby.  These notes must be on the professional’s original letterhead.

      • Excessive tardiness will result in the following;

        • At five (5) tardies, students will receive notification that they have been late for school five (5) times and that additional tardies will result in consequences/intervention. For example:

        • At (ten) 10 tardies, a student will receive an after school detention for being late for ten (10) days.

        • After the first detention, a student will receive an after school detention for every five (5) tardies after the original detention was given.

        • Students with chronic tardiness will receive additional interventions/consequences.
