GOOD AFTERNOON HMS FAMILIES:
This weekend’s weather forecast doesn’t look all that great. Rain is forecasted for many parts of Connecticut Saturday morning into the afternoon. Sunday appears to be the better of the two days yet showers may occur. Saturday may be a good time to get a jumpstart on some indoor projects. I for one will be painting trim in a bedroom. As a reminder, there is no school Monday, September 25 in observance of or Yom Kippur.

Comedy Night -
The HMS PTO Grade 8 Committee is hosting a Comedy Night on Thursday, November 2 at the Miflford Arts Council.

HMS Lockdown Drill Next Week -
Conducting emergency drills (fire, crisis, lockdown, etc.) is one of the most important ways we enhance our preparedness for students and staff during an emergency. Drills allow us to practice what we need to do when an emergency arises in our school.
HMS will be conducting a lockdown drill next week. This will only be a drill and will be conducted in accordance with the School Incident Management Protocols established by the district, and in collaboration with our local first responders. Please discuss the importance of our emergency drills with your children. If you have any feedback please reach out to Ms. Vitaletti (svitaletti@milforded.org) or myself (sgottlieb@milforded.org). Drama Club Meeting -

Fall Conference FYI -
The Fall 2023 Middle School Conference Schedule:
Wednesday, October 18th 5:30-8:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 19th 1:05-3:05 p.m.
*Please take note that we will have a modified early dismissal time on the conference days to accommodate the conference schedule. Therefore, students will be dismissed on October 18th and October 19th at 12:35pm.
Parents/guardians will once again have the opportunity to select a conference time through My Conference Time.
All conferences will be in person unless a parent/guardian requests a Google Meet link directly from the teacher.
Fall conference sign up information will be live on our school website from Friday, October 6th, at 9:00 a.m. through Monday, October 16th, at 12:00 p.m.
If you prefer a virtual session, please contact the teacher to request a Google Meet link to conduct your conference virtually after you have confirmed your conference time through My Conference Time Online Scheduler. We are looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s learning!
Hunger Action Month Fundraiser-
HMS is partnering up with the Purple Pantry Box to collect shelf stable foods during the month of September.
Items that are collected will be donated and distributed among the various Purple Panty Box locations around Milford for our neighbors in need.
Non perishable food donations can be dropped off in the front lobby by the Greeter’s desk.
