GOOD AFTERNOON HMS FAMILIES:
Our second week of school was definitely not what we anticipated due to the unseasonably hot and humid weather. As expected, our HMS learning community adjusted and adapted to the learning schedule and continued their learning from the previous week. This weekend’s weather outlook calls for lower temperatures yet still humid. Some scattered showers will move into the area. On the sports side of things, the NFL football season officially started last night. Good luck this weekend/Monday to whichever team you support. I know I will be wearing my Black and Gold for the Steelers this weekend and as my extended family are Jets fans I will be cheering them on Monday night. As for baseball, I am going to put this topic to bed for this season.

Hunger Action Month Fundraiser-
HMS is partnering up with the Purple Pantry Box to collect shelf stable foods during the month of September.
Items that are collected will be donated and distributed among the various Purple Panty Box locations around Milford for our neighbors in need.
The fundraiser starts Friday, September 1. Shelf-stable food donations can be dropped off in the front lobby by the Greeter’s desk.

Go Gold for Pediatric Cancer Awareness -
Please help make our 3rd annual “PJammin for Kids with Cancer” a huge success by donating new children’s sleepwear during the week of September 18.

The first PTO meeting will be on Wednesday, September 13 at HMS in the Media Center at 7:00 PM.

Monday, September 18 - Open House from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. More information to follow.
Wednesday, September 20 - Early release for staff professional development. Students are dismissed at 12:45 PM.
Friday, September 22 - Save the DATE! We are trying to organize a family movie night on the black top for 7PM.
Monday, September 25 - No school in observance of Yom Kippur.
