GOOD AFTERNOON HMS FAMILIES:
Today is the first edition of our HMS Friday Update for the school year. Staff and students hit the ground running on the first day! As we head into the holiday weekend, I hope everyone is able to relax and enjoy the time with family and friends. It appears that this weekend's weather will be dry with temperatures near the 80’s. For those of you returning and are accustomed to reading my commentary on our local sports teams, there isn’t much to comment on at this time as the Yankees and Mets are not doing much right now except for trading and releasing players. On the flip side, the New York football teams may provide some good Friday Update material once the season starts. For the college football fans out there, the season has started already and this weekend is packed with great match ups. (#7) Penn State plays West Virginia Saturday and then Sunday highlights a pair of top 10 schools, (#5) LSU vs (#8) Florida State, playing each other.

Water Bottles -
Students are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle to hydrate throughout the day. The school is equipped with bottle refill dispensers on all floors.
The school/nurse do not have cups for use.
Hunger Action Month Fundraiser-
HMS is partnering up with the Purple Pantry Box to collect shelf stable foods during the month of September.
Items that are collected will be donated and distributed among the various Purple Panty Box locations around Milford for our neighbors in need.
The fundraiser starts Friday, September 1. Shelf-stable food donations can be dropped off in the front lobby by the Greeter’s desk.

Go Gold for Pediatric Cancer Awareness -
Please help make our 3rd annual “PJammin for Kids with Cancer” a huge success by donating PJs during the week of September 18.

PTO Fundraiser -
The first PTO meeting will be on Wednesday, September 13 at HMS in the Media Center at 7:00 PM.

This year’s schedule is set up with 8 days (A-H). Schedule
There are 6 time blocks each day, not including homeroom. Students attend 6 periods/classes each day.
Time blocks are different then periods. Periods may be in different time blocks depending on the letter day.

Important Dates !
Monday, September 4 - No school in observance of Labor Day.
Monday, September 18 - Open House from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. More information to follow.
Wednesday, September 20 - Early release for staff professional development. Students are dismissed at 12:45 PM.
Monday, September 25 - No school in observance of Rosh Hashanah.
