from 8:30am-9:30am on Thursday, March 16th for students to register to vote.
You can REGISTER TO VOTE if you are:
At least 17 years old and turn 18 before Election Day (November 7, 2023)
Freshmen Class Fundraiser
Freshmen Class Fundraiser!! Please consider supporting the Freshman Class by purchasing Chocolate Bunnies February 7th- February 24th. All bunnies will cost $8.

One day late, but Happy Groundhog Day!
This week the Mane Street Mirror released so many amazing articles, but there are bigger things coming too! The February paper is here and will be handed out in print on Monday. A digital copy will be linked in the Friday News, but be sure to grab a paper copy to start of the week better. Students in Interior Design created Mood Boards to introduce themselves to their classmates. A gallery walk was used to identify classmates' aesthetic or mood/vibe.
Let the labs begin! All of the culinary and bake classes began preparing some delish recipes for the new semester. Culinary l made omelets, most made omelets for the first time. Bakeshop made healthier buttermilk pancakes and pumpkin chocolate chip scones, and Advanced Culinary prepared pasta Al Fredo and a white flatbread pizza using a bechamel sauce.
The Health and P.E. Departments collaborated to create an Active Learning task for students to complete. "The Maze'' allows students to work on their decision making skills, and their verbal and nonverbal communication skills while also applying their short term memory skills to solve a variety of mazes. Students have to step on a series of colored poly spots in a specific order to enter and exit the maze successfully. Students are able to solve teacher created mazes, or create their own for this fun and engaging task.
In Mr. Hair’s PE- 1 classes, students worked on throwing and catching as well as competed in ultimate football.
In Mr. Hair’s strength and conditioning class, students have been doing movement exploration through various modalities.
Students in all levels of French at Foran are starting to fill in their brackets for "Manie Musicale", a French-language song competition (get to know the 16 songs/artists here: Manie Musicale YouTube Playlist). Every few days in February, a new matchup of two songs will be introduced in class...singing and dancing are strongly encouraged! The enthusiasm and engagement from this exciting project will be contagious as students pick their favorite songs and cheer them on in the competition. The Foran High School Athletic Department and The Foran Sports Booster Club have teamed up to honor a deserving varsity athlete each week of the season throughout the 2022-2023 school year. Each recipient will be recognized for their performance in the “Friday News” and they will also receive a tee shirt.

Last Friday, Sophomore Ava Deitelbaum scored a career high 30 points in a 66-39 victory over Jonathan Law. Ava also tied the school record for most three-pointers made in a game with 8. Congratulations Ava!

Girls Tennis Meeting
There will be a meeting for all girls interested in playing tennis this year on Thursday February 9 in the Cafe at 2:00 pm. Important information about the required paperwork and tryout dates will be discussed. Any questions, please see Mr. Vitelli.
ATTENTION BOYS TRACK TEAM:
There will be an introductory meeting for the Boys Outdoor track and field team on Tuesday, February 7th, at 2:15pm in the Gym. This meeting will allow new people to sign up, cover preseason workout times and dates, rules and expectations for the season, and answer any questions anyone has before the season begins on Saturday, March 18th. Please Make every effort to attend this very important meeting. Any boys who cannot attend, please email Mr. Jambor at pjambor@milforded.org.

Celebrated the Seniors this week in Gymnastics!
Foran Gymnastics had two home meets this week! Our athletes worked hard and performed well! On Monday, we honored our Seniors on the team, Ginger Schmidt, Riley Grunow, Gabby Ward and Kaitlin Dobkowski. We also had our season high team score on Senior Night of 129.35!
Swimming
The swim team had two great meets in the last week, ending up with another win and a very close loss. On Friday 1/27 the Milford swim team won their meet against Shelton, 86-82. This was the team’s third win of the season. On Tuesday, 1/31, the team had another very close meet against Lyman Hall/Coginchaug, where it came down to the final races. Lyman Hall/Coginchaug edged out Milford with a final score of 92.5-87.5. The team will be swimming against West Haven on Friday February 3, followed by the team’s last home meet on Tuesday February 7th against Sheehan. This will also be the team’s Senior Night!
Indoor Track
As post-season track meets begin, the Foran Track Team got off to a great start last Saturday at the SCC East Sectional Meet held at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven. The following athletes will be advancing to the SCC Championships on Saturday February 4th, based on their outstanding performances:
CLASS OF 2025 SOPHOMORE RING DANCE

Class of 2024 JUNIOR SEMI-FORMAL

SENIOR PROM
The senior prom will be at The Trumbull Marriott on May 19, 2023 from 6 - 10 pm. Ticket information will be coming in the Spring!
SENIOR CLASS TRIP
The senior class trip is scheduled for June 8, 2023 to Lake Compounce. Ticket information will be coming soon!
GRADUATION DATE
A date has not yet been set for graduation. The Board of Education will vote in April and the date will be released at that time.

As in past years, seniors will be required to pay $40 to cover the costs of graduation expenses, which includes cap, gown, and diploma cover.

Students in Japan Club create "oni '' (monster/evil spirit) masks for Setsubun which is a Japanese holiday celebrating the end of Winter (traditional lunar calendar) and beginning of Spring. An individual dresses as an "oni" while others at school, home or at a shrine throw soy beans at them yelling, "oni wa soto (monster/evil spirit out) fuku ga uchi (luck come in/enter)"
Forever Friends
Attention Forever Friends: Hi Everyone! Our next meeting will be on Thursday, February 9th from 2:00-3:15pm in room 365. We will celebrate Valentine's Day and make cards for hospitalized kids. Join us if you can!
Key Club
There will be no Key Club meeting on Tuesday, February 7th. Please make sure to check Google classroom to stay connected with future volunteer opportunities.
