Students in Astronomy this week have been studying the engineering designs of past, present, and future exploration rovers for Mars and the Moon. This morning they used materials to create some rover designs of their own that incorporate the key elements of the technology: communications, power/energy, locomotion, acquisition of materials, sensory abilities, and special features.
In Mr. Wajda's chemistry classes students have been analyzing what makes things glow or burn colors. Today we looked at plasma discharge tubes to determine the specific wavelengths that make up colors for some of what we saw in the lab. Using spectroscopes like these astronomers can determine what elements are in space from afar.

Real or Fake? Photoshop was not used in any of these images! Students in Advanced Photography learned how to create composite images the “old school” way by using silhouetted objects illuminated by a projected image. Composite photos are digital images where two or more separate images are merged together to create one final photo. These images were created by Ariely Estrella, Grace Kiernan, Will MacKnight, and Riley Smith.
This week Mrs. GaNun’s Shape Up class participated in a Pilates routine that included the use of a Chi ball.
Bakeshop ended our custard and dairy unit with an impressive cheesecake. They prepared a cheesecake with a vanilla cookie crust, and raspberry chocolate swirl. A well deserved A + for everyone.

The Giving Table prepared a big hug of food for a local family in need. We prepared cornbread, chili and a vegetable white bean soup. We're so proud of our club members, and their dedication to make an impact in our community.
The Giving Table prepared a meal for The East Side Firehouse of Milford, to say thank for their service and keeping us safe. The meal consisted of baked ziti with ground beef, peppers, garlic and onions. In addition, we also made a salad and buttery biscuits from scratch. The food pickup in front of the school was a real treat, as the firetruck pulled up with lights and sirens.
The Giving Table prepared Shepherd's pie and baked ziti for a family in need. Our food of love provided some comfort. The club also received a $1,000 donation from The Westport Uniformed Firefighters Charitable Foundation. We are beyond thankful. This will provide ten meals.
