Photography Classes Embrace Nature

What do you do on a beautiful fall day when you are learning about exposure? You go outside to create cyanotypes. Cyanotypes are one of the oldest photographic printing processes in the history of photography.  The distinctive feature of the print is its shade of cyan blue, which results from its exposure to ultraviolet light. Here you see Photography I students experimenting with composition and exposure as they create original images inspired by nature. If you want to try this at home all you need is Nature Print Paper (available through Amazon), a nice day, some opaque objects, and water.  It is fun and safe for all ages.

Students in Ms. Condon and Mrs. O'Keefe's English 1 class collaborated to create their own fictional characters as part of their study of short stories.  Students seemed eager to think creatively and jumped into this assignment.

Mrs. Kaminski’s English classes have been learning about different types of animation and we took a break from “hitting the books” to practice our drawing skills. We had to follow step-by-step directions from a professional animator and here are the results!

Foran Social Studies heard an excellent presentation today by Cody Mainville on the Future Law Enforcement Youth Academy he attended at Yale this summer.  Thank you Mrs Rowley for organizing!

Students in Mr. Williams' AP Psychology class began their Biological Bases of Behavior Unit by working in groups by constructing a neuron out of candy.  Not all the candy handed out made it to their final product.

Students in African American/Black and Latino/Puerto Rican Studies ranked 10 values according to the importance in their own lives. They unanimously decided that FREEDOM and EQUALITY are the most important values to them in the 21st century. Students then learned about the first legally sanctioned free black settlement in the United States, Fort Mose in Florida, and debated which values would be best for the people living at that time and place. They chose FREEDOM and STABILITY.

AP Seminar hosted Ms. DeLoma, the AP Research teacher during period 3. She taught the students about the importance of credibility in finding information for their AP individual research reports.
