Students in US History began to study the Cold War this week. First, students explored a timeline of Cold War events to determine who they thought "started" the conflict. Then, they read opposing viewpoints on the matter using primary sources from Winston Churchill, Harry Truman, Nikolai Novikov and Henry Wallace. Most students decided in the end, both the US and the USSR bore some level of culpability for starting and escalating the Cold War.
Students in Mrs. O'Keefe's and Ms. DePalma's classes engaged in a student-led conversation after they finished reading Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Students were responsible for creating their own discussion questions and being involved in the conversation, and these sophomores did an outstanding job.
