Math Department Teaching on a Twosday!...2-22-22
Ms. Condon and Mrs. O'Keefe's classes are reading Night by Elie Wiesel and they created butterflies with symbolic pictures on them and text from poems written by children in the Terezin Concentration Camp. This was a very moving activity that students were engaged with and they also got to show some of their artistic creativity in class.
Digital Media & Design Notan Designs
When artists create images, they think about composition, or where to place elements in their work. Artists might be inspired by an idea from Japanese art focused on elements of light and dark. It's a concept called notan.
Notan is a term that refers to the Japanese idea of balanced light and dark areas in a composition. One of the most familiar symbols illustrating this concept is the circular yin and yang form from Eastern philosophy.
Notan is essentially the idea that the elements of dark and light are equally important and need each other to exist. You can't have negative space without positive space, and vice versa.
These notan designs were created by Digital Media & Design students: Gracie Brooks, Mia Davi, Jackson Paskiewicz, & Mackenzie Posey
AP Research students practice their presentation skills with a presentation for AP Seminar students illuminating the benefits and requirements for our AP Research course.
Please assist our Research students in completing any surveys they are currently disseminating as part of their methodology process. Students under the age of 18 are required to have a parent signature to partake in the survey. We truly appreciate your support with this as our students are working diligently to garner responses to procure effective data for their research. Thank You!
Students in US History class studied the "Dirty Thirties," a moniker stemming from the Dust Bowl that occurred during the Great Depression. Students then reviewed maps from the US Department of Agriculture to uncover trends in temperature, precipitation and drought since the 1960's. Finally, students developed their own names for the 2020's, including the Toasty Twenties and the Thirsty in the 21sty.
Students in AP Seminar begin the process of constructing their arguments for performance task #2 by mapping out connections among the stimulus materials. After developing their research questions, the students will write a 2000 word essay and develop an 8 minute multimedia presentation based on research.
During the TEAMS course this week students participated in various team building activities like Pipeline. It was wonderful to witness my students working together to accomplish a common goal.
Mrs. Ganun’s Shape up class utilizing the updated Cardio/Weight Room.
Culinary ll finished their breakfast unit with fluffy buttermilk waffles. The room had a wonderful diner aroma. We began our unit on Mother Sauces with a Bechamel sauce, and prepared pasta Alfredo.
