Culinary l has ended our beef and poultry unit, with a warm bowl of chili and a vegetable chicken soup, prepared with a homemade chicken stock. This week, our students began presentations on their At Home Food Waste Project. This has been an ongoing lesson in Culinary l. Students needed to use what they had in their kitchen to prepare a dish, using leftovers, soon to be expired food, half used produce, or items that would need to be thrown out soon. It was an eye opening experience for them. We are proud of all the creativity that went into this project.
Culinary ll completed our International cuisine unit with Thai noodles, sheet pan fajitas, and a gyro pita burger. They really showed their knife skills, and enjoyed traveling to different destinations with their taste buds.
Students in Intro to Early Childhood Education prepared interactive book projects for the children in the Foran Child Learning Center as part of their mid term exams.
Before winter break, Advanced Photo I&II students had some fun being inspired by the creations of the Instagram artist Nikolai Tolsytyh. The various Foran Folidays decorations that were hung around the school are secretly featured in some of these images. See if you can guess which decorations were used in these photos. Hint- Thanks, Mr Spinetti :)

Google reports that in 2015 its Android devices took 93 million selfies per day (www.inc.com). Imagine what that number is in 2022! If you are not into taking selfies you can explore taking “posies” which are pictures of people taken by someone else. Most of us call these types of photos “portraits”. With that many selfies and posies being taken, it’s essential we know how to take a good portrait and not just a crooked, poorly exposed snapshot in the mirror. Digital photography students spent some time working with models in both indoor and outdoor lighting scenarios to capture portraits of family and friends. A huge THANK YOU to the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and friends that modeled for our young artists.
