In Culinary we began our unit on grains. The students prepared oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip cookies and blueberry muffins. We discussed the health benefits of oatmeal, blueberries, healthy carbohydrate options and gut health.
In Advanced Culinary, we began our unit on Mother sauces. I am so proud of my students. They made a blended Hollandaise sauce from scratch; it's very easy for the Hollandaise sauce to break...that means the fat separates from the egg and lemon mixture. The students did a phenomenal job. They also prepared poached and soft boiled eggs, as well as seared salmon. The salmon had a perfect crust and was perfectly cooked. A great lesson about temperature control and carry over cooking.
Culinary l discussed gut health this week, the health benefits of probiotics and fermentation. We also had a fermented food tasting as well. This lecture was tied into our yeast unit, as yeast performs fermentation to obtain energy by converting sugar into alcohol. The class enjoyed their pizza day. It was especially rewarding that they made the dough from scratch.

Girls Soccer
Wednesday, Oct. 6 vs Law
It was an exciting, fan-packed, cross-town match-up with Jonathan Law. The game started off with a goal from Zoe Fallon off a well-crossed ball from Colleen Ardolino. Courtney Musante and Colleen Ardolino also scored goals for the Lady Lions to seal the 3-0 win. Foran peppered the Law goalkeeper with 17 shots. Hanna Della Bitta-Falkowski had 4 saves
Friday, Oct. 8 vs North Haven
Girls soccer finished the week out with a 2-0 victory over North Haven. On display was some of the best soccer the lady lions have played all season. It was a total team effort with Zoe Fallon opening things up with a goal courtesy of a beautiful service by Lauren Ardolino. That was followed up by a Skyler Agresti goal from a Haley Flynn assist. The girls possessed the ball well, communicated on the field, and dominated the game from start to finish. Hanna Della-Bitta Falkowski ended the night with 4 saves.
Boys Cross Country
This past week the Foran Boys Cross Country team took 1st in their Milford Invitational meet against Jonathan Law and Platt Tech! Notable finishes were Nate Huebner who came in 2nd, Tighe Duggan in 3rd, Kevin Chen in 4th, and Josh Cummings in 5th overall! The boys push to the last two meets of the season: SCC Championships next week and States the week after that to close out their successful season!--

The Lady Lions faced off against Lyman Hall earlier this week! While Lyman Hall took the win, there were many successful swims and dives by Foran. SENIOR PARENT & FAMILY AD
Congratulations on reaching this momentous stage in your child's high school years! Have you been looking for a creative way to tell your senior "I love you" and "I'm proud of you!" as they wrap up their high school career? If so, how about purchasing a Senior Parent and Family Ad in the yearbook?
To help you celebrate this milestone, the yearbook staff is now accepting orders for Senior Parent and Family Ads to be placed in the yearbook. These ads give you the opportunity to express your love, pride, and congratulations to the entire school!
In order to purchase, you must build your ad for your senior online with our yearbook company, Jostens at www.jostens.com/yearbookads.
You will need to pay, create, and submit the ad online. This allows you to submit pictures, text, and design online; you don't have to mail anything in or wait for your pictures to be returned to you! Begin by going to www.jostens.com/yearbookads and simply follow their instructions!
In order to guarantee a space for your student's ad in the yearbook, submissions must be made by December 17th.
Senior Ads were a large part of my own high school experience and I loved seeing childhood photos of myself and my classmates in my own yearbook, so please consider adding your student's memories to this wonderful tradition at Foran! If you have any questions please contact me, Meghan Condon, at mcondon@milforded.org; we can't wait to start creating with you!
