Mrs. Annunziata’s Spanish two honors classes presented their own version of show and tell this week! They brought in special items from home and explained them in the target language! Here are some pictures to showcase these presentations.

Students in Señora Morazzini's classes created posters this week in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.  They researched a famous hispanic person, and then used appropriate skills to describe his or her accomplishments.  AP Spanish students compared and contrasted their famous person with someone from our community.  They recorded their spoken cultural comparisons in class in order to practice their presentational speaking skills for the AP exam.  ¡Olé! 💃

Introduction to Business students in Mrs. Cacioppo’s class are “on stage” performing skits to explain economic systems. Each group was given an economic system. Their job was to construct a 1-2 minute scene that depicts the given economic system. Based on the scenario, the class will decide which economic system the group was attempting to convey.

Students in Mrs. Cacioppo’s Introduction to Business classes designed Foran High School t-shirts and asked classmates how much they would pay for the t-shirt.  Using this data students graphed the demand curve and were given the data to graph the supply curve. Students then determined the market price for their t-shirts. Students also applied the law of supply and law of demand in this t-shirt simulation

Principles of Financial Accounting students completed adjusting entries for a service business. They are finishing up the accounting cycle this chapter and will begin analyzing data to make financial decisions for the business. Students also earn college credit through Housatonic Community College for completing this full year accounting course.

Culinary 1 is just finishing up our egg and dairy unit. The students have prepared omelets, pancakes, French toast, and pudding. Students were introduced to knife skills, basic measuring techniques, and the importance of heat control, and patience when reading a recipe and preparing their dish.

The students in Ms. Plude’s Art for Seniors class just finished their abstract camouflaged line designs. For this artistic challenge they had to use line, pattern and value in order to camouflage segments of photocopied patterns and create a new composition… Can you see the pieces of paper?

Swimming

Pictured Above: Emma Fiorillo

The Lady Lions again faced some tough competition this past week against Daniel Hand and North Haven. While the Lions did not come away with the win in either competition there were some great swims and dives by our athletes! Diver Riley Grunow took the win in both diving competitions! Relay's swam by Kaleigh Morton, Ellen Pan, Olivia Jones, and Emma Fiorillo also took first place in both competitions. The team now looks ahead to a meet again Amity this Friday!

The Lady Lions took on both Amity Regional and Shelton High School this past week coming away with one win and one loss. In an exciting meet that came down to the final event, Foran defeated Shelton in a 91-79 victory! A number of outstanding performances brought the Lions their second win, including an amazing effort to kick off the meet with a win from our 200 Medley Relay made up of Ellen Pan (10), Emma Fiorillo (12), Kaleigh Morton (11), and Mia Davi (9). The Morton sisters, Kaleigh (11) and Erin (9), had an impressive showing placing in the top four in each of their events. Ava Candido (12) made a splash in the 500 freestyle placing second to keep our momentum moving forward. Ellen Pan (10) and Emma Fiorillo (12) came away with two first-place individual finishes as well as firsts in the 200 Medley relay and 400 Freestyle relay which also included Kaleigh Morton (11) and Olivia Jones (10). And while not coming away with the victory against Amity, there were many impressive swims in the pool! Junior Divers Riley Grunow, Gabby Ward, and Kaitlin Dobkowski scored season-bests each placing in the top four. Sophomore Olivia Jones dropped an impressive 21 seconds in her 500 Freestyle earning second place! Next week the Lady Lions will face off against Guilford and Branford High schools!

Thursday, Sept. 30 vs Branford

Thursday's match vs Branford was an exciting one to say the least.  Foran got on the board first with a solidly struck PK by Colleen Ardolino.  Branford answered towards the end of the 1st half with a  goal of their own.  We were able to come away with the "W" thanks to an accurately placed ball via Katherine McTigue.  Samantha Young tallied the assist.  Hanna Della-Bitta Falkowski had 13 saves.
