No School for Students Wednesday, March 8th

Teacher’s Professional Learning Day

Students and Families

As a reminder, course selection has begun for the 23-24 school year. Teachers have entered course recommendations for their students in PowerSchool and they had individual conversations with students to advise them of the course options for next year. The portal to enter course requests through PowerSchool is now open for you and your child to select classes. Please review the online Program of Studies and use this worksheet to help them plan their selections. After discussing choices as a family, your child can enter their requests in PowerSchool using these instructions. Children and families can also explore course offerings through these videos produced by the different departments. You will have until Sunday, March 6th to enter their course requests online. School counselors will then meet with each student individually in March to review their selections. Please reach out to your child’s school counselor if you have any questions or concerns.

Students in Latin IV are researching and presenting on volcanoes around the world and throughout history. They are bringing together their learning in physics, geology, chemistry, history, economics, meteorology, sociology, etc. and making connections with the massive eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79 that gave us the Roman archaeological treasures of Pompeii and Herculaneum. They have been studying the Latin language and the Roman social history of the 1st century AD Roman Empire and are using seismology and volcanology to identify modern and historical connections in every arena of life through their research.

Finally some snow! The Giving Table

During the past two weeks, The Giving Table prepared a New England clam chowder and vegetable bean soup for the Polar Plunge, hosted by the American Legion. This was a fundraiser for the Tunnels for Towers Foundation. Since 9/11, this foundation has been helping America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responders families with young children and by building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. They are also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness. The American Legion raised $13,000 in one day. The Giving Table also prepared a large tray of Shepherd's pie and a large tossed salad, for our local first responders at the Milford Firehouse Headquarters. We appreciate all that they do to keep our community safe.
