Dear ESMS Families,

Happy Friday. It was wonderful welcoming our students and staff back after a week of rest and relaxation over the spring recess. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Please share this with your kiddos and encourage them to show their teachers how much they appreciate them by writing them a note or card or thanking them!

Thank you to our PTA members for their collaboration and planning with Mr. Piselli and I. We have a very special week planned to recognize and honor our AMAZING ESMS staff.

We are excited to announce that our Support Team: Mr. D’Angelo, School Psychologist, Ms. Samuelson and Mrs. Rubino, School Counselors, and Ms. Yannelli, Social Worker have developed a series of workshops for our grade six students focused on cultivating a community of kindness and inclusivity. Prior to spring break, students engaged in a kinesthetic movement activity called Scatter with their peers. The purpose of this activity was to build connections and to increase communication skills amongst one another.

This past Wednesday,  students engaged in small group discussions about the importance of recognizing and talking about our differences. Our intention was to foster an understanding of empathy and gain a greater appreciation for individual differences. Students also developed ideas to support inclusion and develop a greater sense of school community. We are excited to continue this series of workshops over the next several weeks to support our students in strengthening their social and emotional skills.

FLOWERS NEEDED: The Kindness Club will be beautifying the front of our school and planting if anyone would like to donate flowers. All flower donations can be delivered to the school Monday or Tuesday as the club will weed the large pots and begin to plant Tuesday after school. Flowers can be marked with attention to Ms. Hudd or Kindness Club. Thank you!
