Dear ESMS Families,

It was a terrific week for our ESMS learning community.

Please join us Tuesday night at 6:30 pm for our virtual PTA meeting. What a wonderful way to get involved and support ESMS. Click here to access the 21-22 PTA Membership Form, click here to access PTA meeting dates and the meet code - all meetings are virtual.

Tik-Tok Challenge: As you may have heard on the news there is a TikTok challenge that has gone viral over the last week or two. The challenge or “devious licks” (something that has been stolen) is to have students pilfer or vandalize items at school and then post their antics or “devious licks” on TikTok. At this time, ESMS has seen minor issues in bathrooms related to hand soap dispensers and hand soap bags being taken from hand dispensers. In an effort to reduce any further bathroom issues, ESMS has increased it’s monitoring of the bathrooms as staff check the conditions of them more frequently.

As a school community, we are asking for your help to talk with your child and encourage him/her not to get involved in this destructive behavior. Participation in this challenge and destroying school property is not acceptable at ESMS and goes against our ESMS Value System. Thank you for your support with this matter.

Conference Info for October:

We are excited to see you for parent/teacher conferences. These will be on Wednesday, October 20, 5:30-8:00 and Thursday, October 21, 1:05-3:05 pm. All middle school students will be dismissed at 12:35 both days (not 12:45 pm). Please click here for more information.

Wingman Advisory Fundraiser Coming Up!: OCT. 11th through the 15th!

Stay tuned for the Milford Middle Schools Double Good Popcorn fundraiser to support the Wingman activities for all of our students this year!  We are in need of many materials to make student experiences in this building even more fun and interactive during advisory time.  Double Good Popcorn is like no other popcorn you’ve tasted!  Check out the flavors!

Picture Retake: If your child was absent for picture day or is not happy with the photo, picture retakes are on Wednesday, November 10.

School Hours Chart:  Happy to report the School Hours Chart has been updated for this academic year.  This chart not only identifies Start and End dates, but also the early dismissal and delayed start times. Click here to view the chart.

Touchless Bottle Fillers: MPS has installed touchless bottle fillers in our schools in order to provide a safer way for our students to stay healthy and hydrated throughout the school day.  Please feel free to send your student(s) to school with a reusable water bottle that they will be able to refill as necessary during the school day.

COVID 19 Information: When a school receives notification of a possible positive COVID-19 case there may be times particularly when we are notified after school hours or on weekends, that families will be sent an email indicating that their child is to stay home the next school day and that a school nurse will contact the family to discuss the matter and provide guidance on what happens.

Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up: We are getting much better at this - THANK YOU! In an effort to keep our students, staff and ESMS families safe during parent pick-up and drop-off, we have created a video to help outline the pick-up and drop-off procedure.  We are asking families to please drop your student(s) off on the Seabreeze Avenue side of the school, ALWAYS entering and exiting the parking lot by taking a RIGHT hand turn. We are not allowing a left hand turn in or out of the ESMS parking lot in order to ensure the safety of all. Please pull up as far as you possibly can and have your student(s) exit the car on the passenger side of the vehicle. These measures will help us to ensure a safe and timely pick-up and drop-off for all of our ESMS families.  Click here to view a brief video which helps to further clarify the procedure.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact your child’s team leader and of course, always feel free to call or email me anytime at scarlson@milforded.org or Mr. Piselli at dpiselli@milforded.org, or by phone at  203-783-3559.

Thanks so much for your continued understanding, communication, and support. We want, need, and value your involvement, partnership, and support in your child’s education!
