Happy Thursday and Spring Recess Eve! Wishing all ESMS students, staff, and families a lovely spring break. We look forward to welcoming your children back on Monday, April 17.
SPELLING BEE: We have some very exciting news, our first place Spelling Bee Winner is Landon N and our second place (alternate) winner is Leina L. Congratulations to all of our grade 6 kiddos and a special shoutout to Landon and Leina. We wish Landon GOOD LUCK as he represents ESMS on April 26 at the Citywide Spelling Bee.

The Pulsera Project (Message from Mrs. Soares, khannigan@milforded.org): When we return from break, our school will be partnering with The Pulsera Project, a fair trade nonprofit organization that seeks to empower, inspire, and educate people in Central America and the U.S. The Pulsera Project provides sustainable, well-paying work opportunities for artisans in Nicaragua and Guatemala, most of whom make colorful hand-woven bracelets, or “pulseras” in Spanish. The project then creates a market for their artwork by partnering with schools across the U.S. Sales begin on April 17th and go until May 1st. ESMS Spanish Club will sell Pulseras for $7 and handbags for $15. The proceeds will then be invested in a wide range of social impact programs in Nicaragua & Guatemala. Thank you for your support and for helping to Color the World!
ESMS 3rd ANNUAL CAREER DAY- WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP!: We have some very exciting news…..ESMS is hosting our 3rd Annual Career Day for all students and we need your help! We are looking for Career Day presenters and are hopeful you can help us out. If you are willing to share your career or know someone who might be interested in being a part of this awesome day for our kids, please click here for more information. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE - East Shore students and staff have been invited to march with the American Legion post 196 during this year's Memorial Day parade! Students who participate will receive a paper hat to wear during the parade and are invited back to the American Legion post for ice cream after the parade is over. Come out and show your support for this wonderful event! If your child is interested and/or you have any questions, please contact Mr. Storey at cstorey@milforded.org

SMARTER BALANCED ASSESSMENT (SBA) INFORMATION: Our tentative SBA dates are detailed below. There are essentially 5 testing days.
ELA: 5/2 and 5/3 English Language Arts (ELA Make Up: 5/4, 5/5, and ⅝)
Math: 5/9 and 5/10 and 5/11 Performance Task (Math Make Up: 5/12, 5/15 and 5/16)

MEDIA CENTER NEWS: We are excited to announce that all Milford Public School Libraries now offer students the convenience of 24/7 access to age appropriate ebooks and audiobooks through Destiny Discover. Ebooks offer a variety of benefits such as accessibility, audio options, and other unique features. With instant access to a wide selection of books, ebooks are an excellent way for students to explore their interests and expand their personal growth and learning opportunities. DOLPHIN DOLLARS: At ESMS we are proud of our students for following our value system by being accountable, staying respectful and being safe. To reward our students for this exemplary behavior we have implemented our Dolphin Dollar system which students can use to purchase items at our ESMS school store. In an effort to fully stock our school store, in conjunction with our AMAZING PTA, we are asking families to consider making a contribution.
