Calf Pen Meadow families:

We had another fabulous week at the meadow!  Wilhelmina came to visit today and welcome students to school!  

                         

CPM Open House - We cannot wait to meet you at our virtual Open House!  See our Save The Date - CPM Open House flyer for information.  Your classroom teacher will send more detailed  information on September 22.

CPM Picture Day -Lifetouch has cancelled our September 24th date and will reschedule another date with us.

Bus Seating:  To further our safety efforts for our learners, our elementary schools, in collaboration with Durham Bus Company are developing a bus seating chart with assigned seats.  The goal for each bus-riding student is to minimize the number of students quarantined should an individual on the bus test positive. Over the course of the next week or so, students will be assigned their seats. Buses will have stickers with row numbers above the window to assist in students locating the proper seat.  You can help by: 

• Reminding your child to sit in their assigned seat at all times. Having your child stay in their assigned seat will help support their safety and the safety of others to stay healthy while on the bus.   

• Having students  wear their masks for the entire ride.

These protocols are necessary to mitigate exposure and spread of the COVID virus.  Thank you for your cooperation and partnership in this important matter.  Our schools will be working diligently to get these seat assignments and please understand there may be a delay as we implement this process of assigned seating on the bus over the next weeks. 

Protocol for Contacting Tracing after school hours and on weekends - 

When a school receives notification of a possible positive COVID-19 case there may be times particularly when we are notified after school hours or on weekends, that families will be sent an email indicating that their child is to stay home the next school day and that a school nurse will contact the family to discuss the matter and provide guidance on what happens. We thank you for your cooperation as we continue to navigate through these times together and put safety first. 

Students Drop off and pick up reminders

• Pull to the far right of the roadway as possible.

• Activate your vehicle's flashers so other traffic is aware of your intentions. 

• Be a good citizen and do not block our neighbors' driveways. 

• Keep a 25-foot distance from intersecting streets while waiting in line.

• Pull as far forward in the loop as you can to allow us to get more cars off of the street.

• When exiting the school parking lot, please turn right to reduce congestion in the area. 

Early Dismissal: September 22nd - Students will be dismissed at 1:25. Student pick up is at 1:25.  Be mindful that bus drop off should be about 2 hours earlier than normal. 

Drills:  Conducting emergency drills (fire, crisis, lockdown, etc.) is one of the most important ways we help keep students and staff safe during an emergency. Drills allow us to practice what we need to do when an emergency arises in our school. This year, Milford Public Schools will incorporate COVID-19 health and safety practices during these drills.  During an actual emergency, however, evacuation and safety are the school district's first priorities and social distancing only will be enforced once students and staff are in a safe location. 

Next week Calf Pen Meadow School will be conducting a fire drill. This will only be a drill and will be conducted in accordance with the School Incident Management Protocols established by

the district, and in collaboration with our local first responders. Students engaged in distance learning for the day of the drill will not participate in the drill, but live meet schedules may be adjusted for this day.  Please discuss the importance of our emergency drills with your children.  We thank you for your cooperation and partnership with keeping our schools safe!

Fall 2021 Virtual Conferences:

We are pleased to announce our Fall 2021 Elementary Virtual Conference Schedule: 

Wednesday, October 20 th 1:45-3:45 p.m.

Thursday, October 21st 5:30-8:00 p.m.

Friday, October 22n 1:45-3:45 p.m.

*Please note that we will have a modified early dismissal time on the conference days to accommodate the conference schedule.  Therefore, students will be dismissed on October 20th, October 21st and October 22nd at 1:15pm. 

Our fall conferences will be held virtually and parents/guardians will once again have the opportunity to select a conference time through My Conference Time.  We are looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s learning! Fall conference sign up  information will be  live on our school website from  Friday, October 8th, at 9:00 a.m. through Monday, October 18th, at 12:00 p.m. Quick tip: Look for emails from “noreply@myconferencetime.com” when searching email for conference confirmation communications. 

CPM PTA News:

To our CPM community:  We encourage all families to join the CPM PTA!  The CPM PTA is proud to fund several initiatives that directly benefit all teachers and students, including:

• Funding class t-shirts for ALL students this year

• Funding teachers' lounge updates and monthly appreciation events

• 5th grade graduation activities

• Covid classroom enhancements and classroom allowance for ALL teachers

• Kindergarten welcome bags and signs

• CPM fall and spring outdoor beautification projects

When you support our fundraisers, we are able to continue to fund these valuable initiatives.  Funds earned through the “No Stuff Fundraiser,"  fall and spring flower and sign sales, spirit wear sales and special events (Covid pending) are what allow us to give back!

• Decorate a Pumpkin Sign - We’re decorating the meadow this fall with a pumpkin patch! Purchase an orange pumpkin yard sign to decorate. Signs will then be displayed on the school grounds.
